Want to fight the effects of flooding? Visit Lower Silesia!

The regions affected by the recent flood are largely areas with a significant share of tourism in the local economy. Although the great flood permanently destroyed only part of this area, the entire region is struggling with a wave of cancellations. This is completely unjustified. The vast majority of Lower Silesia is quickly dealing with cleaning up after the downpours and is waiting for tourists.

Lower Silesian tourist attractions are able to fill more than 2 weeks of vacation for each of us. Currently, some municipalities are still struggling with the effects of the flood that is still passing through the province, and several of these municipalities will still need support for many weeks. As Ela Szumska from the Gold Mine in Złoty Stok says: "Most of the region is already waiting for guests. The sun is shining again, the cleaning of the areas is being finished and what they need is work so that tourist entrepreneurs and the residents of Lower Silesia employed by them have the means to deal with the effects of the great flood. They all invite you to Lower Silesia." There are no formal contraindications to organizing school trips in regions where the infrastructure functions without problems, and there are many such municipalities also in the Kłodzko region and in the Karkonosze Mountains. Individual and group tourists can also realize their plans in Lower Silesia. On Wednesday, September 18, the study visit of 30 representatives of travel agencies associated with the Polish Chamber of Tourism ended in the Lower Silesia region.

Elżbieta Rawa from the Wolff travel agency, who participated in the visit, says: "I am glad that I did not cancel my visit and I saw the situation in the region with my own eyes. Now I know that in the vast majority of places there is no reason to cancel reservations."

The Lower Silesian Tourist Organization has prepared and constantly updates a list of the availability of Lower Silesian tourist attractions in this difficult time after the flood. It is available in the news on the website www.dolnyslask.travel.

"The Lower Silesian tourism industry, which suffered due to the flood, needs enormous support. Our support. It is tourism that constitutes the economic foundation of the flooded areas. Lądek Zdrój, Stronie Śląskie, Bystrzyca and many others are the main attractions of this part of the region. Let's not cross these areas off our vacation plans," said Magdalena Piasecka, vice president of DOT.

"From the very beginning, we have been collecting information about the situation of Lower Silesian attractions. It is a long process, but we share all information on our social media channels and on the Dolny Śląsk Travel portal. We also encourage you to contact the Regional Tourist Information Points, which will provide you with information on the possibilities of getting there or visiting specific tourist places," adds the President of the DOT Management Board, Adam Zawada.

Among the attractions located in the Kłodzko region and already inviting guests are: a unique paper mill in Duszniki Zdrój, or the Toy Museum in Kudowa Zdrój. In the Karkonosze and Jizera Mountains, there are, among others: Sky Walk Path in the Clouds in Świeradów Zdrój, the Natural History Museum in Jelenia Góra, or the Julia Glassworks in Piechowice. In the remaining areas, mainly smaller floods occurred and today there are no problems with visiting the areas of Wałbrzych, the Lower Silesian Forest, or the Barycz Valley.
