"Safe level crossings"

Haste, ignorance, recklessness and lack of common sense are the biggest killers on the tracks. The shield that protects drivers against accidents is knowledge of the regulations and responsibility for themselves and other people. Through extensive activities, we have been educating road users for years and fighting for what is most valuable: human health and life.

Accidents at rail-road crossings constitute less than one percent of all traffic accidents. This does not exempt us from trying to reduce them to zero. Behind each of them there is a human tragedy. For us, a crash, collision or hit-and-run is not just another number in the statistics, but a person who has met with misfortune. Each event of this type results in material losses and the involvement of emergency services. In recent years, there have been approximately 200 accidents each year, killing several dozen people. This is still way too much. That is why it is so important to constantly educate all road users.

When something tempts us to behave in an imprudent way, it is crucial that the voice of reason speaks up and guides us on the right path. Such people who care about safety and proper conduct in life are most often women: mothers, wives, sisters, grandmothers or aunts. That's why we decided to make them our Safety Ambassadors. Their wisdom and responsibility saves human lives. When we hear "honey, slow down before crossing" or "son, don't play on the tracks", sometimes we don't realize that we are receiving the most beautiful gift that can be given to another person. A bit of common sense that protects us from making a cardinal mistake whose consequences cannot be reversed. The Ambassadors were also joined by Security Ambassadors. They appear in our educational materials, teaching entire families the rules of track safety. In TV spots, their words reach the hearts and minds of recipients, encouraging them to behave cautiously at crossings and railway and road crossings. They are not only faces, but above all voices of reason, spreading the idea of the "Safe level crossings" campaign.

Anyone can become a Security Ambassador. All you need to do is learn the rules of safe behavior on railway premises and make sure that your family and friends follow them. Our dream is a Poland full of Safety Ambassadors who teach their loved ones responsibility from Hel to the Tatra Mountains. A country where the voice of reason is stronger than bravado and haste. Please build it with us!

Goals

Many people still believe that the red light before a rail-road crossing is only a warning and not a categorical ban on entering the tracks. There are those who believe that slaloming between abandoned toll gates is a sign of cleverness and saving time, rather than extreme stupidity and playing with death. A speeding train can have a braking distance as long as thirteen football fields. The difference in mass between a freight train and a passenger car is the same as between a vehicle and a drink can. Any mistake on the tracks may have irreversible consequences, as the driver has no chance to brake within a few seconds. That's why we run the "Safe Passage" campaign, the basic assumptions of which are:

  • raising awareness of the threats resulting from failure to exercise particular caution at crossings and railway areas

  • drawing attention to the importance of being particularly careful and observing road traffic regulations

  • minimizing the number of events that threaten people's life and health at railway and road crossings and railway areas

  • shaping behaviors and consolidating socially desirable attitudes
