Polish trams in Tallinn

23 trams has been delivered to the capital of Estonia by PESA Bydgoszcz

PESA Bydgoszcz announced the delivery of the first of the 23 trams ordered by Tallinn authorities. The entire contract is to be completed by the end of June next year - said Maciej Grześkowiak, director of strategic projects and communications of Pesa Bydgoszcz.

The tram to the capital of Estonia was transported by road on a special trailer, as Grześkowiak explained in a press release. In the near future, the roiling stock will be tested on local routes, and then it will start regular passenger journeys.

PESA won the tender for the supply of trams for Tallinn in April 2022, and in May of the same year, a contract was signed covering the delivery of eight trams, with an option for an additional 15. After a few months, the contractor decided to increase the number of ordered trams to 23.

The trams covered by the contract are three-section rolling stock from the Twist family, 28.56 meters long, capable of carrying up to 309 passengers, including 65 in seats. They have a design speed of 80 km/h and an operational speed of 50 km/h. They will be equipped with air conditioning, information systems, ticket sales, passenger counting, monitoring, energy recuperation and online diagnostics.

The value of the contract, including the basic order with an option, is EUR 52 million. According to the plan, the first tram was to reach Tallinn in spring 2024, and the last one was to be delivered by June 2025.
