PKP Intercity will receive PLN 2.62 billion to finance new electric locomotives and dual-mode multiple units and passenger cars. The money will also be used for modernization.

The money is to come from the European Investment Bank. The aim is to improve the quality of rail services in Poland and promote rail travel, which is to reduce the use of private vehicles.
The EIB emphasized that the project will benefit the local environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving road safety. Additionally, the project supports sustainable transport, in line with the goals of the European Union.
