Meeting with representatives of Polish organizations from the Kharkiv and Lviv regions in Ukraine

The President's wife, Agata Kornhauser-Duda, met in Lviv with representatives of Polish organizations from the Kharkiv and Lviv regions of Ukraine.

The meeting took place in the Curia of the Lviv Archdiocese, where the First Lady was welcomed by: the representative of the Curia, Rev. Prelate Piotr Brzeski, rector of the Higher Seminary, and Rev. Andrzej Piekańca, director of Caritas of the Lviv Archdiocese, Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Kharkiv Piotr Stachańczyk, Deputy Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Lviv Tomasz Kowal.


The meeting was attended by representatives of the Primary School in Łanowice, which was founded on the initiative of parents and the Society of Polish Culture of the Lviv Region operating in this town, representatives of the H. Sienkiewicz Club in Energodar together with the president of the association, the Albertine Sisters, who daily provide assistance to the most needy residents of Ukraine, including those who suffered as a result of the war.


Addressing the representatives of the school and the Polish community in Kharkiv, the First Lady emphasized the extraordinary value of maintaining traditions, including: learning Polish.


I would like to thank you for your attachment to the Polish language and Catholic faith, for preserving our identity and national culture. I assure you that the issues of the Polish diaspora and Poles around the world are a priority for my husband – President Andrzej Duda and for me – she said.


– The patriotic education of young people born outside the country of their ancestors’ origin is a huge effort. Thank you for transmitting a very positive image of our homeland. You are the best ambassadors of Polishness – she added.


The President's wife, thanking organizations for educating in the spirit of memory of Poland and maintaining Polish tradition, said:


Today's meeting is of particular importance to me, primarily because I can personally express my gratitude to those of you who continue to be involved, despite the ongoing war in Ukraine. I am aware that your activities to date have been strongly determined by the ongoing armed conflict. Thank you for continuing to work to share knowledge about Poland and teach Polish despite these difficult circumstances. Today I would like to express my solidarity with all Poles who have been personally affected by Russian aggression, who have lost their homes and loved ones, she stressed.


The First Lady's visit took place as part of the "Help Poles in the East" campaign, the aim of which is to help our compatriots living beyond Poland's eastern border.


It is no coincidence that we are meeting today. In a few days the school year starts. I would like to see smiles on the faces of children, said the President's Wife.


Support is also addressed to children who will soon start their education again in the new school year.


No child should experience the drama of war, which is why we should do everything to give them a sense of normality, she added.


The support provided as part of the “Help Poles in the East” campaign was described by the President’s wife as “an expression of solidarity with our compatriots and an expression of gratitude for the enormous amount of work done so far” for the local community in Ukraine. – Please remember that Poland is with you – she added.


Thanking for the meeting, Agata Kornhauser-Duda expressed her appreciation and wishes for peace to those gathered. – I thank you all once again and I wish that the peace we are all waiting for will come as soon as possible – she said.


During the visit, the First Lady also visited the Cathedral. Assumption of the Holy Virgin Mary


It was the fifth visit of the President’s wife to Ukraine since the outbreak of the war.
