LOT wants to buy new planes

Embraer or Airbus?



LOT Polish Airlines will soon send requests for proposals regarding the purchase of 84 regional aircraft. The company will also take the decision whether to continue cooperation with the current supplier of machines - Embraer or perhaps go for Airbus.


The Ministry of State Assets announced in a statement that in the near future PLL LOT intends to send a request for proposals regarding "the acquisition of 84 regional aircraft to two manufacturers who offer machines that meet the requirements. This is about Embraer and Airbus.


The announcement stated that one of the basic assumptions of PLL LOT's strategy is "to secure up to 110 aircraft by 2028."


“That is why the company is in dialogue with aircraft manufacturers. "It is faced with making a strategic decision whether to continue cooperation in the regional segment with the current machine supplier (Embraer) or to switch to a competitive platform (Airbus)," the ministry said.


The PLL LOT fleet consists of 75 aircraft, consisting of Embraer aircraft (over half) and Boeing aircraft (B737 and B787).


The main shareholder of PLL LOT is the State Treasury, which has 69.30 percent. shares in the company. The second shareholder (30.7%) is Polska Grupa Lotnicza (PGL), wholly owned by to the State Treasury.
