PKP Intercity has signed a contract with H.Cegielski - Fabryka Pojazdów Szynowych worth over PLN 4.2 billion. Under the contract, 300 new wagons will be built.

The new wagons will be able to accelerate to 200 km/h and will be homologated for use on the railway networks of the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary and Lithuania.
A variety of types of wagons will be purchased under the tender:
38 1st class compartment wagons with a separate non-compartment part,
40 2nd class compartment wagons,
80 2nd class non-compartment wagons,
38 2nd class compartment wagons with seats for people with disabilities,
40 2nd class non-compartment wagons with places to transport bicycles,
38 restaurant wagons,
26 day-night wagons providing night-time travel on couchettes.
