It`s been 20 years since the death of Jeremi Przybora. Mr. Przybora is very well remembered from Kabaret Starskich Panów (Elderly Gentlemen's Cabaret), which he co-founded with Jerzy Wasowski. The first out of many Cabaret` episodes started in 1958. In addition to the well-known "Elderly Gentlemen", unforgettable roles in the Cabaret were played by Barbara Krafftówna, Irena Kwiatkowska, Kalina Jędrusik, Mieczysław Czechowicz, Wiesław Michnikowski and Wiesław Gołas.
Jeremi Przybora was born on 12th December 1915 in Warsaw. He came from the noble family of Syrokomla of Coat of Arms. He was an editor in the magazine “Co proszę?” ("What Please?") and that's where he published his humoresques. Two years before the outbreak of World War II he gave private polish language lessons in Belarus. During the Warsaw Uprising, he was an announcer and hosted a program on Polish Radio. From April 1945, he was a lecturer at the Polish Radio center in Łódź. After the war, he was a creator and originator of the radio theater "Eterek" where he works as well. As an editor, he also marked his presence in the Polish Film Chronicle. In 1957, he became a director at the Satire and Humor Editorial Office and published a book entitled "Spacerek przez Eterek” (“A Walk Through Eterek"). He was also a co-writer of the film “Ewa chce spać” ("Ewa wants to sleep").
He wrote many funny, satirical and timeless lyrics to songs sung in Cabaret. These include Tanie dranie", "Bo we mnie jest seks", "Przeklnę cię", "Addio pomidory", "Mambo Spinoza", "Na ryby!" and many others.
The Monument to Elderly Gentlemen Jerzy Wasowski and Jeremi Przybora was erected on the University Hill in Opole.
