Only half of the summer holidays have passed and 127 people have drowned, including 13 children! Since the beginning of the year, the Police have recorded as many as 277 drownings! Water is a wonderful place for rest and recreation, but it remains an element. A river or a lake is not a swimming pool. Remember that natural water reservoirs carry many dangers that do not occur in swimming pools.

The highest number of drownings during the holidays this year was recorded in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship - 24 people and the Warsaw Police Headquarters - 13 people.
More hot days are forecast ahead of us. Let us remember that we are, first of all, responsible for the safety of ourselves and our loved ones.
Police officers, firefighters and rescuers have been appealing all season to follow basic safety rules around water.
They remind us that ignoring this element results in an increased number of drownings. And the number of tragic events is growing. Therefore, the services advise to:
use bathing only in a place designated for this purpose, which is appropriately marked,
take care of the safety of the youngest and do not leave them unattended in the water or on the beach,
do not enter the water when hot, before entering, cool your chest, neck, nape and legs with water - this way we will avoid thermal shock,
assess your skills and fitness realistically,
pay attention to people bathing next to you,
avoid bathing after drinking alcohol, which weakens your reflexes and the ability to assess the situation,
if necessary, call the emergency number 112.
Let's not allow holiday carefreeness to make us forget about the safety of ourselves and our loved ones!
If you witness irresponsible behavior by the water - react. Your attitude can save someone's life!
