In April 2024, 43 plants declared 2.3 thousand employees layoffs. A wave of collective layoffs is sweeping across Poland, which is a serious problem for many local communities.
At the end of April, the number of planned group layoffs was 17.1 thousand of employees, reported by 167 plants, compared to 14.0 thousand employees and 155 plants a year earlier.
Global corporations that have operated in Poland for many years are reducing employment or completely closing production, which leads to thousands of people losing their jobs. Experts indicate that one of the reasons for this situation is, among others, minimum wage increase.
